The pandemic of multitasking.

I will out myself immediately: I love Zoom.

After years of playing the isolated introvert, I love the option of socializing-from-the-sofa when I’m feeling open to it and only socializing as much as I’m up for it.

Sometimes I entertain others on Zoom. Zoom is an easy place to be a big personality. Most of the time, though, I’m a listener.

A lot of the time, I’m doing my nails.

One of my first major purchases during the pandemic was a gel polish UV nail curing lamp.

And a ton of gel polish. A ton of colors I had rarely worn, including every variation of black, gray and blue.

So basically, I’ve polished my way through Zoom meetings.  It’s my healthy obsession. It hurts no one, it looks pretty and it no longer costs anything since I’ve got enough polish to last another ten pandemics.

But hopefully there’s not another ten pandemics on the horizon.

But seriously, I love Zoom. I love analyzing the folks on the grid. I love anticipating what they’re going to do and say and then being really proud of myself when I get it right.

Even an isolated introvert must celebrate the successes, after all.

I practice my poker face when someone is being too extra. And I play “pretend interested participant” when the talk turns to topics I can’t handle.

I like how people say they won’t talk about Covid since everyone is sick of it and then they talk about Covid.

I hate how people say they won’t talk about politics and then they talk about politics.

I really hate that one.

But I won’t talk about it.

Most of all, I love to see other people’s backgrounds. Not the virtual backgrounds (unless they’re super cool).

I love to see other people’s real backgrounds so I can snoop and try to figure out a little bit more about them.

I caught this article about Zoom personalities.

I was able to qualify for at least 3 of the categories. Bwah bwah bwah.

Zoom Personalities: Who do you have in your Zoom class?

Happy Zooming.

And good luck to those who hate it. We know who you are.

And hi from bella who jumps on me when I’m on Zoom and makes me look like I taught her to jump on me when I’m on Zoom.

I swear I didn’t.

xoxoxo, d (and bella)
